Alderfer, Stanley H., 85, of Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA died March 15, 2014 at Lansdale, Montgomery Co., PA. He was born November 12, 1928 at Harleysville, PA to Jacob A. and Edna K. (Hunsberger) Alderfer. On September 9, 1950 he was married to Eva D. Rittenhouse.

Surviving are daughter: Connie Sue Souder and husband Feryl K.; son: David Noel Alderfer and wife Patricia; son: Phillip Grant Alderfer; and son: Michael Scott Alderfer; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and siblings: sister: Gladys Yoder and husband Clyde; sister: Darlene Clemmer and husband Jacob; brother: Earl Alderfer and wife Ruth; brother: Lester A. Alderfer and wife Louise; bBrother: J. Rein Alderfer and wife Melodia; and sister-in-law: Nancy Alderfer.

A brother, Alvin Alderfer preceded him in death.

Stanley was a lifelong member of Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, where he was a past trustee. He enjoyed hunting and joined Harleysville Volunteer Fire Co. and Ambulance Corp. in 1962, where he was a lifetime active member and treasurer for 20 years. He loved times spent with family, especially seeing his young great-grandchildren at play.

Memorial services were held March 19, 2014 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Amstutz, Judy Ebersole, 80, of Wheat Ridge, CO died April 5, 2014 at the same place from cancer. She was born June 24, 1933 at La Junta, CO to Clarence and Ruth Ebersole. On June 16, 1956 she was married to Mahlon Amstutz, who survives.

Surviving are three daughters, Lynn Amstutz (Charlie Ferguson), Lori Campbell, and Rita Sommers; and six grandchildren.

A brother, Rod Amstutz preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held April 15, 2014 at First Mennonite Church, Denver, CO.

June 24th, 1933-April 5th, 2014
Judy Amstutz was born Julia Ruth Ebersole on June 24, 1933 in La Junta, CO to Clarence and Ruth Ebersole. The youngest of three children, Judy was the tomboy of the family and enjoyed working with her dad on their small farm. Even at a young age she was an avid horsewoman and barrel racer in rodeos. In addition to horses, Judy loved dogs, especially cocker spaniels and she raised several litters of pups.

Judy was a passionate musician, singing in many choirs and playing the violin in high school, college and community orchestras throughout her life. She was a lover of great music as well as silly songs. These were sung with family on long road trips, around the campfire, and anytime her kids needed to be entertained. It seems she was always humming. Frequently breaking into song is a familial trait extending back several generations and, based on the habits of several grandchildren, it will continue. Yes, people really do still break into song when triggered by random words or phrases in daily conversations!
Judy attended Goshen College where as a freshman she met senior classman Mahlon Amstutz. They dated a year before Mahlon went to Europe for a stint with PAX, an alternative to military conscription. Their courtship continued 21/2 years via Aerogram letters. Meanwhile, Judy started her own path of service by enrolling in the nurses training program at the La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing, which was founded by her uncle, Allen Erb. With her training completed, Mahlon and Judy were married on June 16, 1956. Once the Amstutz children arrived-Lynn, Lori, Rod, and Rita-- Judy put her career on hold to raise their family. She resumed her nursing career 16 years later, working on a part-time basis in the Denver metro area in public health and hospital nursing.

Judy and Mahlon raised their children with a strong work ethic, sense of family loyalty, a passion for learning, and a love of traveling. Judy was an effective teacher and coach to her family, fostering interdependence and responsibility. She led by example and used her sense of humor to make work more fun. At home and on family trips, whether short camping excursions or month-long adventures to both coasts, everybody had a job and was expected to execute it in a timely fashion. Teamwork was at the core of Amstutz family life. It's a big part of who we are today and has helped make great memories for all of us. Extended family was also very important. Mahlon and Judy made sure we knew our relatives and had good relationships with them which were nurtured by frequent family reunions.

Once Judy and Mahlon retired they enjoyed at least 25 years of domestic and international travel, visiting Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Canada and many Elderhostel/Road Scholar excursions. Always gregarious, Judy enjoyed volunteering for the multiple precursors of what is now Ten Thousand Villages. Blessed with more time, Judy and Mahlon both enjoyed singing with The Columbine Chorale and church choir. Fun-loving and independent, Judy and Mahlon nurtured many friendships. Frequent visits with adult children and grandchildren were always highlights for them.

Judy cherished and loved her family, friends, and her church. She relied on her faith community for mutual comfort and solace and would encourage us to do the same. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a loving mother and wife, reliable friend, conscientious worker, and joyful musician. Auernheimer, LaVeta Sasser, 79, of Reedley, Fresno Co., CA died March 26, 2014 at the same place. She was born August 13, 1934 in Oklahoma to Munroe and Ruth Sasser. On March 25, 1993 at Reedley, CA she was married to Bruce Auernheimer, who was born October 4, 1934 and survives.

Surviving are children, Eldon Nasalroad; Beccy and Bill Howarad; LaNette and Richard Maioreollo; Tim and Stacy Nasalroad; Jayna and Roger Howard; Kelly Nasalroad; Step-children: Robert and Kim Auernheimer; Caroline and Gerald Savage; and Christine Abraham, 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mildred Hull, and Madeline Durrett, and a brother, Eugene Sasser.

Memorial services were held April 26, 2014 at First Mennonite Church, Reedley, CA with burial in Reedley Cemetery, Reedley, CA.

Augspurger, Mary C. Porzelius Schmucker
July 5, 1926 - Nov. 28, 2014

CHENOA, Ill. - Mary C. Augspurger, 88, of Chenoa, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community among friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at River of Life Outreach Church in Meadows, formerly Meadows Mennonite Church, with Tom Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoa Cemetery in Chenoa. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Chenoa is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Mennonite Central Committee or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.

She was born July 5, 1926, in Carlock, a daughter to Walter and Catherine (Boeringa) Porzelius.

She married Carl Schmucker on Sept. 20, 1953, and had three children, Jeffrey, Bradley and Carla. Carl died in an accident on Nov. 29, 1958, before Carla was born.

She then married Merle Augspurger in Flanagan on Dec. 9, 1962. He adopted the three children and preceded her in death May 21, 2005.

Her daughter, Carla Patterson, and one sister, Dorothy Becker, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two sons, Jeff (Peggy) Augspurger of Bloomington and Brad (Dawn) Augspurger of Elkhart, Ind.; one son-in-law, Tom (Nikki) Patterson of Liberal, Kan.; two brothers, Fred (Marilyn) Porzelius of Chenoa and Ernest Porzelius of Bluffton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Amber) Augspurger, Katie (Marvin) Toering, Benjamin (Jen) Augspurger, Daniel (Lisa) Augspurger, Luke (Haley) Augspurger, Jacob Augspurger, Mariko (Jim) Betts and Luke Patterson; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-step-grandchildren; and five great-great-step-grandchildren. She prayed for and loved them all!

Mary was a graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing in Bloomington. She was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church in Gridley. She loved the Lord and was always an encourager. Wanting to be home - her Heavenly home - for Thanksgiving, she was a few hours late, but her family is sure they saved a place for her.

Baer, Joseph F., 88, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died February 16, 2014 at the same place. He was born November 3, 1925 at Hagerstown, Maryland to Isaac and Laura (Fuss) Baer. On July 27, 1949 at Pigeon, MI he was married to Catherine Neuhauser, who was born January 15, 1923 and died in 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Baer (Patricia M.); and David Baer (Patricia A.), four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Daniel (Miriam) Baer; and a sister, Mary Martin (Jason Martin, deceased).

A daughter, Twila R. Baer preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held February 22, 2014 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial at a later date in Alden, New York.

Joseph F. Baer

Nov. 3, 1925 - Feb. 16, 2014

GOSHEN - Joseph F. Baer, 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, at Greencroft Healthcare, where he had been since October.

He was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., to Isaac and Laura (Fuss) Baer.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph N. (Patricia M.) Baer of Alden, N.Y., and David L. (Patricia A.) Baer of Goshen; four grandchildren, Allison (Jonathan) O'Conner, Bradley (Stephanie) Baer, Anna Baer and Emily (Rory) Dunn; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Martin of Goshen; a brother, Daniel (Miriam) Baer of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a special friend, Naomi Jantzi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine, in 2008; and a daughter, Twila R. Baer, in 1980.

Joseph was ordained in 1953 and was the first pastor of Palm Grove Conservative Mennonite Church, Sarasota, Fla. He was assistant pastor of Alden Mennonite Church in Alden from 1959 to 1986.

Joseph taught at Alden Mennonite School from 1956 to 1960 and at West Seneca High School in New York from 1960 to 1985. From 1985 to 1989 Joseph and Catherine lived in Buffalo, N.Y., doing evangelistic work with international students.

In July 1989 they retired at Greencroft, Goshen. Joseph was a member of College Mennonite Church. He volunteered at his church, Menno-Hof and Greencroft, where he sang with the Evergreen Singers and taught Sunday school at Manor IV.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Koinonia room at College Mennonite Church, where a 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, memorial service will be conducted. Pastor Rose Widmer will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Alden.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mennonite Central Committee or Greencroft Foundation.

Bair, D. Henry
Sept. 27, 1924-March 16, 2014

D. Henry Bair, 89, of Hanvoer, PA entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Transitions Nursing center, Gettysburg. Born September 27, 1924, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Daniel and Sadie (Forry) Bair. Henry was the loving husband of Sarah M. (Kuhns) Bair with whom he would have shared 64 years of marriage on April 8th, 2014.

Henry was a member of Bair's/ Hostetter's Mennonite Congregation and the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. He was a farmer all his life until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by two children; Lauren K. Bair and wife Joyann of Hanover, Karen E. Bair of Hanover; four grandchildren; Lori, Danny, Kevin and his wife Heather, and Ellie, and four great-grandchildren; Carlie, Jose, Mackenzie, and Savannah; and one sister; Sadie Whisler of Hanover.

He was preceded in death by a two sisters; Elizabeth Fuhrman and Emma Herr.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Bair's Mennonite Meeting House, York Road, Hanover. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover. Viewings will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Battice, Brenda Nicole Neuenschwander, 30, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday evening, May 11, 2014. She had dealt with various health issues the past 10 years.

She was born Jan. 3, 1984 in Fort Wayne.

She is survived by her parents Keith and Cindy (Knose) Neuenschwander, of Goshen; a son, Kiante Battice; and grandparents, Becky Knose, of Columbus, and Alvin Neuenschwander, of Berne.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Ken Knose and Mabel Neuenschwander.

A Goshen resident since 1988, Brenda graduated from Goshen High School in 2002. She was a member of Silverwood Mennonite Church and enjoyed music, reading and being a mother to her toddler.

She formerly worked as a CNA in healthcare.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Silverwood Mennonite Church, 1712 W. Clinton Street, Goshen. Pastors Ron Guengerich and Rachel Nolt will officiate.

Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.

Bauman, A. Elvin, 83, formerly of Manheim, died March 3, 2014. He was born in Lancaster Co., PA to Ernest K. and Grace Snyder Bauman. He was the husband of the late Marion Heistand Bauman who died in 2001. He was a member of White Oak Mennonite Church, Manheim, PA

Bauman, Barbara Wideman, age 88, of Wallenstein, Ontario died June 15, 2014 at Listowel Memorial Hospital, North Perth, Ont. Beloved wife of Moses Bauman for 64 years.

She was the mother of Elam (Minerva) of Fergus, Louisa (Mervin)Gingrich of Wallenstein, Lucinda (Melvin) Martin of Millbank, Rebecca of Wallenstein, Edna of Wallenstein, Katie (Murray) Bauman of Millbank, Anna, Alice, and Sarah all of Wallenstein, Remembered by her 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Bauman, Rita Musselman, age 77 years of Elmira, Ont. formerly of West Montrose and Waterloo. [Died March 2014] Beloved wife of the late Omer M. Bauman (2008).

She was the mother of Darla and Roger Steinmann of West Montrose, Greg Bauman of Breslau, and Jeff Bauman of Elmira. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Joel, Noah and Jacob Steinmann; Adam, Derry and Megan Bauman. Sister of Carol and Paul Brownson of Stirling, and sister-in-law of Clare and Eileen Bauman, Alice Burkhart and the late Ozias Burkhart, Lester and Linda Bauman, Vera and Laverne Bauman. August 21, 1929 -- August 2, 2014

Cornelius D. "Neal" Beachy, 84, of Millersburg, died at 2:01 am on Saturday, August 2, at his home. He had been in declining health. He was born on August 21, 1929 in LaGrange County, to Daniel C. and Susan (Miller) Beachy. On October 6, 1949 in LaGrange County he married Alma Bontrager, she survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are five daughters, Sue Ann (Dennis) Hershberger of Nappanee, Rosemary (Marvin) Miller of LaGrange, Eileen (Harold) Yoder of Millersburg, Ginny (Jim) Kauffman of Millersburg, Maggie (Nate) Schawrtz of Sturgis, MI; six sons, Marvin (Carolyn) Beachy of Amboy, Dave (DiAnn) Beachy of Goshen, Wayne (Rosanna) Beachy of Ligonier, Timothy (Leona) Beachy of Columbia City, Paul (Janice) Beachy of Syracuse, Sam (Heidi) Beachy of Milford; 27 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one step granddaughter, four step great grandchildren; four sisters, Ida (Henry) Yoder of Bloomfield, IA, Esther (Arthur) Martin, Sarah (Jake) Stoltzfus and Barbara Bender all of Goshen; two brothers, Harvey (Marie) Beachy and David (Mary Ellen) Beachy both of Goshen; brother-in-law, Dan (Fern) Gingerich of Belle Center, OH; sister-in-law, Irene Beachy of Sarasota, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alvin, Eli and Daniel Beachy, three sisters, Katie Jones, Anna Gingerich and Susie Miller. He, along with his wife and large family, lived as a missionary in Paraguay, South America for six years. He was employed in construction for Miller Brothers Builders for many years. Most recently he served as director of Christian Mission Charities, while serving he traveled to many different countries until his retirement.

He was a member of Fair Haven Amish Mennonite Church where he was a minister being ordained in 1965.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday August 3, and 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, August 4, at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, 13513 State Road 4 Goshen. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday August 5, also at the church. Services will be conducted by the pastoral team of the church. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Christian Mission Charities.

Beachy, Walter Lewis, 85, died April 17, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. He was born January 9,1929 in Sherwood, Ohio, to Jonas J. and Leah (Mast) Beachy. He lived in Mark Center, Ohio until he was 13 years old then the family move to Iowa in 1942. In 1946 he became a Christian, redeemed from the World. Walter was united in marriage to Laurine Marie Miller on September 28, 1950 near Kalona. In 1959 he was ordained to the Ministry and in 1962 he was ordained as Bishop and was presently serving as a semi-retired Minister at Salem Mennonite Fellowship. He also worked as a farmer and carpenter.

Survived by his wife: Laurine; 8 children: Marietta (James)Yoder of Kokomo, MS. Wilford (Alice) Beachy of Kalona, Leah Belle (Paul) Stutzman of Olathe, CO. Cynthia (John Mark) Miller of Brashear, MO. Daryl (Rachel) Beachy of Kalona, Richard (Rhoda) Beachy of Wellman, Myrna (Nathan) Byers of Kirksville, MO. And Jolene Rose Beachy of Kalona; 44 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Ezra Paul (Marge) Beachy of Sarasota, FL. Lester (Lorraine) Beachy M.D. of Des Moines, John Henry (Emma) Beachy of Riverside and Howard Jay Beachy of Albany, OR and 2 sisters: Esther Yoder of Kalona and Fannie Schrock of Burlington Junction, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Lizzie Rogers and an infant; 2 brothers-in-law: Ernest Yoder and Edwin Schrock and 3 sisters-in-law: Alice Beachy, Elsie Beachy and Leda Beachy.

Funeral Service was April 20, 2014 at Fairview Mennonite Church near Kalona, IA Burial was at East Union Cemetery.

Bechtel, Jesse R., 90, of Oley, PA died August 19, 2014 at Philadelphia, PA. He was born August 28, 1923. He was married to Catherine Eshbach, who survives.

Surviving are children, Elaine Shirk, David Bechtel, Glenn Bechtel, and Bruce Bechtel, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

JESSE R. BECHTEL, 90, formaly of Oley Jesse R. Bechtel, 90, formerly of Oley, died August 19, 2014 in Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving family. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he was the husband of Catherine (Eshbach) Bechtel, with whom he just celebrated 70 years of marriage in April. Born in New Berlinville, he was a son of the late Henry B. and Mary (Reiter) Becthel.

Jesse was a graduate of Boyertown High School. He was employed as a truck driver with William R. Gift for 31 years, retiring in 1988. Jesse served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an active member of Boyertown Mennonite Church where he served as an elder. He also served there as a superintendent for Sunday School for nine years and a teacher for many years. He was a member of PA State Sunday School Association, Berks County Sunday School Association, where he also served as President for nine years. Jesse enjoyed woodworking in his wood shop. A very generous man, Jesse loved visiting shut-ins and the ill and having prayer and Bible readings with them.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his four children: Elaine, wife of Larry Shirk of Lancaster, David, husband of Janis Bechtel of Stroudsburg; Glenn, husband of Sharon Bechtel of Oley; and Bruce, husband of Debra Bechtel of Boyertown. Also surviving are his two sisters, Mary Schueck of Barto and Sarah Forsythe of Harleysville. There are also 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren surviving.

Jesse was predeceased by his two brothers, Phillip Bechtel and Thomas Bechtel and his sister, Naomi Mest. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Boyertown Mennonite Church, 275 Mill Street, Boyertown, PA 19512. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the church and Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. TOPEKA - Alma E. Beechy, 77, died Friday, Jan. 24.

She was born June 30, 1936, to Enos E. and Ida J. (Yoder) Miller.

On Dec. 4, 1958, she married Daniel D. Beechy. He died June 27, 2004.

Surviving are children Amanda Sue (Alvin) Yoder, Irma (Christy Jr.) Knepp, Vera (Toby) Yoder, Ida Mae (Leroy) Yoder, Polly Anna (Vernon) Bontrager, Mary (Phillip) Schwartz, Martha (Milton) Bontrager and Fannie (Leroy) Yoder; Vernon (Esther) Beechy, Ernest (Mary Esther) Beechy, Harley (Linda) Beechy, Alvin Jay (Linda) Beechy and Daniel Jr. (Esther) Beechy; 106 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; sisters Amanda Miller, Ida Mae (Ervin) Bontrager and Anna (Mervin) Mast; and brothers Harley Miller and Jerry (Ruby) Miller.

Three grandchildren, one sister and two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the John Miller home, 2500 S. 300 W., LaGrange. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 26, after 2 p.m. and all day Monday, Jan. 27, at the Vernon Beechy home, 2535 S. 375 W., LaGrange. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Bender, Ora Magdalene Kremer, 92, of Harrisonburg, VA died January 20, 2014 at Oak Lea Nursing Home. She was born on September 16, 1921, in Milford, Nebraska to William and Malinda Miller Kremer. On November 23, 1947, she married Daniel H. Bender who survives. She was an active member of the Park View Mennonite Church.

Survivied by her husaband Daniel H. Bender and four children, Debra Hope Bender and husband Clifford Stewart, Cape Coral, Florida; Judy Lorayne Yoder and husband J. Byard, Manheim, PA; Evan D.H. Bender, Linville; Eric Kremer Bender and wife LuAnn, Harrisonburg; six grandchildren, Jeremy Byard Yoder, Jonathan Blake Yoder and wife Jonilyn, Joseph Eric Bender, Malinda Joy Bender, Mary Kathryn Bender and Michael Evan Bender.

Mrs. Bender was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Holly Ann Bender and her siblings, Kenneth Kremer, Opal Miller, Margaret Roth, Carroll Kremer, Lorne Kremer.

Bergey, Grace S., 92, of Hatfield, Montgomery Co., PA died January 20, 2014 at Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA. She was born March 13, 1921 at Hatfield, PA to Horace L. and Esther (Souder) Bergey.

Grace taught school at Franconia Mennonite School, Quakertown High School, Christopher Dock High Mennonite High School, Methacton High School and as a Reading Specialist for North Penn School District. Her teaching career was broken up with various overseas assignments with Mennonite Central Committee; relief work in Jordan teaching at Ramallah Girls School, Umuahia Teachers College in Nigeria, Lobatse Teachers College in Botswana and Chongging Teachers College in China. While teaching English overseas, Grace had the privilege of sharing her faith. She enjoyed traveling and her overseas assignments gave her great opportunities.

Memorial services were held January 25, 2014 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, PA with burial in Franconia Mennonite Cemetery, Franconia, Montgomery Co., PA.

Bergey, Grace S., 92, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Hatfield, PA, died January 20, 2014 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was born March 13, 1921 in Hatfield, PA to Horace L. & Esther (Souder) Bergey.

Grace was a former member of Salem Mennonite Church. She later became a member of Line Lexington Mennonite Church and Souderton Mennonite Homes Fellowship.

Survived by her brother, Horace S. Bergey of Hatfield, PA; her special friend, Sheila Roth & husband, Paul of Lansdale, PA and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Willard S. Bergey and her three sisters, Anna S. Bergey, Esther S. Moyer and Elizabeth S. Cassel.

Bigler, Bryce A., 2, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with Niemann Pick Disease Type A. He was born on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Lancaster, PA, the son of Matthew Bigler and Cortney Showalter.

Bryce was always a happy, contented child with a smile that could light up a room and never wanted to be treated differently because of his illness. He enjoyed watching the Bubble Guppies and Looney Toons and especially liked Porky Pig. Giraffe were his favorite of all the animals. Bryce ultimately loved fire trucks and because of this he was an honorary member of Elizabethtown Fire Department, Rheems Fire Department and North Irwin Fire Company. He was also bestowed the title of Chief, Lieutenant, and Paramedic at other fire departments.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandfather Keith Showalter of Elizabethtown, maternal grandmother Marian Williams and her husband Jeff of Elizabethtown, paternal grandfather Keith Bigler of Jeannette, PA, paternal grandmother Mary Smith and her husband Larry "Smitty" of Jeannette, PA, an aunt Lindsey Showalter of Elizabethtown, an uncle Scott Bigler and his wife Devon of Manor, PA, several cousins and a large extended family.

A memorial service to honor Bryce will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552, with Pastor Jim Moynihan officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday in the church. MIDDLEBURY - Eric Paul Birk, 42, of Middlebury and formerly of Wakarusa, passed away of natural causes at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, where he had been for a few days with a brief illness.

He was born July 14, 1972, in Elkhart, to Richard and Nancy (Letherman) Birk.

Eric was raised in Wakarusa and was a 1990 graduate of Horizon Learning Center. He lived at MDC Goldenrod Agape House since April 10, 2000. He attended Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and also attended Wakarusa Missionary Church.

He is survived by his parents, Richard and Nancy Birk of Wakarusa; two brothers, Steve (Jaclyn) Birk of Elkhart and Scott (Kim) Birk of Wakarusa; and a niece and three nephews, Cameron, Madelyn, Matthew and Ryan Birk.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linward and Catharine Letherman and Clarence and Opal Birk.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and for an hour prior to the funeral services, which will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, also at the church. The Rev. Wes Bontreger will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

Rebecca R. Bixler, 86 of Iowa City died Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.

Rebecca Ruth Troyer was born December 31, 1927, in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of Miles and Mary (Reif) Troyer. She attended elementary schools in Elkhart, and she graduated from Hesston Academy in 1945, Hesston, KS. She then attended Goshen College graduating in 1951 with a BA degree in Education. She taught schools in Elkhart following graduation for a couple of years. On June 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to John Bixler at the Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart. The couple moved to Iowa City where for two years she worked for the University Hospitals as a nursing assistant in childcare. For the years to follow she raised her family and supported her husband in their music business.

"Becky" enjoyed so much in life, her family, church, gardening, canning her fruits of labor, and her music brought much joy to her life and so many others around her.. Her family, friends, visitors from the groups with the University, church, missions and more experienced a "World Class Chef & Hostess". She had strong beliefs in those causes she supported including the Hancher Guild, UI Foundation, Nature Conservancy, Rails to Trails, Common Cause, The Democratic Party, and of course her church, First Mennonite Church of Iowa City, a member for over 60 years!

Her family includes her husband, John; their four children, Debra Brown (Robert); Samuel Bixler ( Carol); Amy Bixler; and Peter Bixler (Dana Noble); 6 grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret Miller (Vernon), Grace Helmuth and Vera Weaver (James).

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Darda Troyer; and two sisters, Dorothy Miller (Ron) and Fern Erb (Fred),

Blank, Betty Jane, 62, of Franconia Twp., died February 13, 2014 in the Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was born January 17, 1952 in Sellersville, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Eva F. (Kulp) Blank. She was a member of Lansdale Mennonite Church. She helped to start and facilitate the Elroy Breakfast Group at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

Survived by three sisters: Gladys Moyer and her husband Harold of Souderton, Mildred Young and her husband Russell of Souderton, five nieces: Sharon Gehman, Donna Gaugler, Renita Myers, Sharla Padilla, Kristin Wunderlich, and six nephews: Keith Young, Doug Young, Jim Snider, Kerry Snider, Doran Snider and Donald Snider.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pauline Snider, and a great nephew, Michael Gehman.

Bock, Mary Emma Blough, 81, of Harrisonburg, VA died June 22, 2014 at the same place. She was born February 27, 1933 at Hollsopple, PA to Harry and Freda (Berkey) Blough. On June 17, 1961 she was married to Warren Bock, who survives.

Surviving are children, Susan Earley and husband, Brian (Bellingham, MA); and Alan Bock (Gaithersburg, MD); and a brother, Paul D. Blough and wife, Joyce (Boswell, PA).

Her siblings, Richard Blough, Twila Zimmerman, Dorothy Roth, and Robert Blough

Emmie was a registered nurse and worked in this field in the Washington, DC area for 45 years.

Bontrager, Amos L. age 87, died at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on June 12, 2014. He was born in Shipshewana, IN, to Levi N. & Martha I. Hostetler Bontrager. He was the husband of the late Lois S. Bontrager who passed away on June 2, 2014. They were married for 64 years. He was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise, PA. Amos pastored for 38 years retiring in 1993 from the former Christiana Mennonite Church. He also pastored at Bart Mennonite Church, and along with his wife planted the Newport Community Chapel in Newport, KY.

He is survived by 4 children: JoAnn M. of Quarryville married to John M. Zehr of Harrison Valley, PA; Gregory A. married to Yang Wong Bontrager of Quarryville; Myron V. Bontrager of Indonesia; J. Michael married to Dorothy King Bontrager of Kennett Square, PA; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 brother: Eli husband of the late Ruth Yoder Bontrager of Milford, DE.

He was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Sylvia Miller, Anna Bontrager, Sarah Hershberger, Polly Miller, Lewis Bontrager.

The funeral service was June 17, 2014 at Calvary Monument Bible Church, Paradise, PA with Pastor Robert Reid officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Monument Bible Church cemetery.

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Bob Bontrager, 57, of Corvallis, died of cancer Friday, Oct. 17, at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, in Albany.

He was born in Sturgis, Mich., and grew up in Elkhart, Ind.

Bob married Beth Gerig on Aug. 1, 1981, in Elkhart.

Bob began working at Oregon State University in 1994 as the associate director of enrollment services after serving as vice president of enrollment management at Eastern Mennonite University (1988-1994) in Harrisonburg, Va. His tenure at Oregon State was filled with innovation and achievement.

As director of admission and orientation he oversaw an unprecedented enrollment expansion from around 13,000 students to 17,000 in a four-year span. He was the architect of the Degree Partnership Program, a unique co-enrollment partnership with 17 Oregon community colleges and three Hawaiian community colleges.

Bob established an enrollment management structure at Oregon State in 2000. In 2004, he helped launch a holistic admissions review at Oregon State including the Insight Resume, which is used by numerous institutions around the world.

After serving as assistant provost for enrollment management, Bob joined the Association of American Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) to launch AACRAO Consulting and Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Initiatives.

Bob authored numerous journal articles and books and served as editor for "Strategic Enrollment Management: Transforming Higher Education." He recently co-authored a book with Don Hossler called "Handbook of Strategic Enrollment Management."

Bob earned a Doctorate of Education from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Goshen (Ind.) College.

Bob and his family enjoyed traveling together. He loved the outdoors: biking, hiking, backpacking and skiing. Bob always loved planning the next adventure.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; his children, Jesse, (daughter-in-law) Betsy, Erin and Kevin; father Marion Bontrager; sister Jolene Bontrager (Dick) Lehman; and nephews Scott (Hannah) Lehman and Brent (Rosie) Lehman.

A gathering will be held Oct. 22 in Corvallis. An informal service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Fellowship Hall at Goshen College Mennonite Church in Goshen.

NAPPANEE - Braxton James Bontrager, 1-day-old infant son of Steve and Sarah (Yoder) Bontrager of Nappanee, died at 4:44 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

His parents are members of Old Order Amish Church.

Surviving, along with Steve and Sarah, are grandparents Harley Jr. (Treva) Bontrager of Shipshewana; grandparents Weldon (Elnora) Yoder of Nappanee; great-grandparents Marvin (Katie) Slabaugh of Nappanee; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Braxton in death were his great-grandparents, Harley and Mary Bontrager, Daniel and Annie Stutzman and Calvin C. and Fannie (Mast) Yoder.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2, at the family's home, 1905 Beech Road, Nappanee, followed immediately by a 2:30 p.m. funeral service at Emery Kaufman's home, 1699 B Road, Bremen. The home ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in Borkholder Cemetery.

Brett C. Bontrager, 21, of Middlebury, passed away the evening of Friday, June 6, while serving with Global Tribes Outreach in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He was just beginning a 7-month mission. He was born on June 17, 1992, in Goshen, to Merlin and Robin (Graber) Bontrager.

Surviving are his parents, Merlin and Regina (Yoder) Bontrager of Middlebury; a sister, Harlee Bontrager; five brothers, Bryce, Dominick, Nathan, Ryan and Jeremy Bontrager all at home; grandparents, Larry & Esther Mast of Mendon, MI,
LaVern & Ruby Bontrager of Goshen; Edna Graber of Middlebury; great grandfather, Jerry Yoder of Sturgis, MI.

He was preceded in death by his mother on May 4, 2000 and grandfathers, Richard Yoder and Floyd Graber.

He had attended Clinton Christian School through the 6th grade and was home schooled for grades 7 through 12. He received his BA in Business from Thomas Edison State College in 2012. Brett had a heart for service at an early age. He took his first mission trip at the age of 12 serving in Nicaragua and later served in Canada, Israel, Mexico, China and numerous stateside missions. He was a very active member of Riverview Christion Fellowship where he served in the youth group as well as in many different areas. Brett volunteered at The Haven in White Pigeon, was a member of Elkhart County 4-H and was active in Bible Quizzing. He had worked at the Essenhaus and was most recently employed at
Bontrager Services by his father. He was a wonderful example to his siblings and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation will be from 1:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, June 16 at River Of Life

LAGRANGE - Daniel W. Bontrager, 69, died at 3:27 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

He was born May 8, 1945, in Sturgis, Mich., to the late William J. and Ada (Miller) Bontrager.

On Sept. 30, 1965, in Noble County, he married Joann Miller.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Bontrager.

He was a member of Old Order Amish Church. He was a farmer and worked for Riegsecker Marketplace.

ALBION - David L. Bontrager, 90, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at North Ridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albion, following a stroke two months ago.

He was born Feb. 4, 1924, in LaGrange County to Levi R. and Anna (Christner) Bontrager.

On Jan. 31, 1946, he married Susie L. Miller. She died March 15, 1997.

David was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Mae Weaver and a stillborn sister, Ida.

David is survived by his nieces and nephews including those in Shipshewana.

David was a farmer and factory worker in his early adult years.

David loved music and old steam engines, and enjoyed attending historical and musical celebrations. In his later years he delivered newspapers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Topeka Mennonite Church, 206 E. Lake Street, Topeka. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, with a viewing one hour before the service, also at the church. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Topeka.

MILLERSBURG - Eugene Ray Bontrager, 44, of Millersburg, died Saturday, Feb. 22, after a battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 1, 1969, to Leo and Martha (Hochstetler) Bontrager.

He married Barbara E. Lehman on May 6, 1992. She survives.

Other survivors include five children, Wanda Jean (special friend Merle Khuns) Bontrager, Karen (special friend Joas Miller) Bontrager, Geneva Diane Bontrager, Daryl Dean Bontrager and Wayne Lynn Bontrager, all at home; granddaughter Alyssa Nichol Kuhns; two sisters, Lisa Jane (Floyd) Graber of Shipshewana and Linda Fern (Joe) Miller of Topeka; and three brothers, Devon Dean (Amy) Bontrager, Gary Martin (Sharon) Bontrager and Wayne Lee (Sharon) Bontrager, all of Topeka.

An infant daughter, Julie Ann, is deceased.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, and all day Sunday, Feb. 23, at the family's home, 10825 W. 500 S., Millersburg.

SHIPSHEWANA - Joanna C. Bontrager, 1-day-old infant daughter of Cletus and Ida (Hershberger) Bontrager of Shipshewana, was stillborn at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Wilma Fern and LaVera Kay Bontrager, both at home; grandparents Ezra L. and Wilma H. (Lambright) Bontrager of Shipshewana and Glen Ray and Vera S. (Mast) Hershberger of Howe; great-grandmother Nettie Lambright of LaGrange; and great-grandfather Levi W. Bontrager of Shipshewana.

She was preceded in death by a stillborn sister, Rosie C. Bontrager.

The family had a private graveside service Thursday, April 10, conducted by Bishop Monroe Yoder.

TOPEKA - John M. Bontrager, 71, died Monday, May 19, after being hit by a wagon pulled by runaway horses.

He was born Sept. 3, 1942, to the late Manas and Elizabeth (Miller) Bontrager.

On May 17, 1962, he married Esther Ellen Miller. She survives.

Other survivors include 10 children, Dora (Jerry) Miller, Arlene (Lonnie) Miller, LuAnn (Marlin) Frey and Liz (Danny) Miller, all of Millersburg, John Jr. (Doris) Bontrager, Dale (Retha) Bontrager, Loretta (Ray) Lehman, Wanda (Richard) Frey, Mary (Glenn) Miller and Lavern (Esther) Bontrager; 62 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings Amanda (William) Yoder, Naomi Bontrager, Betty (Joe) Wingard, Edna (Jerry) Yoder, and Ervin (Anna), Mahlon (Edna) Manas Jr. (Mary), Joni (Freda) and Levi (Ruth) Bontrager.

His sister, Martha Schrock, predeceased him.

Katie (Thomas) Bontrager, age 93, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 7:09 PM at home. She was born on March 6, 1921 to Ben and Lovina (Mullet) Thomas in Dodge City, Kansas. Katie married Andrew L. Bontrager who preceded her in death on April 23, 1982 after 38 years of holy matrimony.

Mrs. Bontrager is survived by three daughters, Amanda (Perry Jay) Yoder of Topeka, Esther (Jacob) Schrock Jr. of LaGrange, Wilma ( Manas) Lehman of Ligonier; seven sons, Perry (Alta Mast) Bontrager of Pardeeville, WI, Leo (Martha Hochstetler) Bontrager of Topeka, Andrew Bontrager Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Ira (Mary Knepp) Bontrager, Freeman (Norma Barkman) Bontrager, Ben (Vera Hershberger) Bontrager all of Topeka, and Amos (Mary Jane Yoder) Bontrager of Ligonier; one brother, Ira Thomas of Goshen; two sisters, Amanda Stutzman of Mississippi, and Lovina Stutzman of Goshen; 45 Grandchildren; 139 Great Grandchildren; one step-great grandson; two great-great grandchildren.

LAGRANGE - Alma Bontreger, 83, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange.

Mrs. Bontreger was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Dave and Mattie (Yoder) Schrock.

She lived many years in LaGrange County, moving to the area from Elkhart County. Mrs. Bontreger was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years at Wolcottville Grain Elevator, and also worked at Starcraft. She was a member of Emma Mennonite Church.

On Oct. 16, 1954, in Wakarusa, she married Gene Bontreger. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Tim (Jean) Bontreger of White Pigeon, Mich., Ron (Joann) Bontreger of LaGrange and Rick (Jenny) Bontreger of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Kurtz and Barbara Weaver, both of Goshen and Mary Yoder of Middlebury; and brother Edward Schrock of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Beck, and a brother, Alvin Schrock.

GOSHEN - AnnaBelle Bontreger, 84, formerly of Middlebury, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 10, surrounded by her husband of 65 years and close family at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

She was born in Goshen on April 22, 1930, to Lewis H. and Winifred (Long) Nelson.

AnnaBelle grew up as a neighbor to Clinton Frame Mennonite Church where she was a lifelong member.

On March 6, 1949, she married Harold L. Bontreger.

He survives along with two sons, Tim (Laurie) Bontreger of Goshen and Kent (Becky) Bontreger of Middlebury; three grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Stutzman, Kristian (Shana) Bontreger and Tori (Brad) Blosser; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, Jamie and Michael Cross.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard and Robert Nelson and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Susan Bontreger.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, where a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, memorial service will be conducted. Pastors Terry Diener and Matt Yoder will officiate.

She was a 1948 graduate of Millersburg High School. AnnaBelle retired as a secretary for Middlebury Produce, the family business. Prior to her illness, she was known for her hospitality and impeccable housekeeping.

CYNTHIANA, Ky. - Susie J. Borntrager was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Reno County, Kan., the daughter of John J. and Polly (Yoder) Borntrager.

She died March 3 at Cynthiana, Ky., at the home of her daughter at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 4 days. She had been in ailing health for several years.

On Nov. 11, 1948, she was joined in matrimony to William L. Borntrager, who preceded her in death March 31, 1989. They lived in matrimony slightly more than 40 years.

To this union was born six sons and five daughters, David (Susie Jones), Sarasota, Fla., Joe (Sara Jean Miller), Liberty, John (LeaAnn Miller), Sebree, LaVern (Alta Wagler), Plentywood, Mont., Willie (Carolyn Miller), McArthur, Ohio, Dan (Gina Kauffman), New Auburn, Wis., Fannie (Menno Yoder), Monticello, Ruby (Ivan Hershberger), Dorchester, Wis., PollyAnna (Joe Wagler), Cedar Creek, Texas, Katie (Steve Hershberger), Cynthiana, and Betty (Randy Miller), Nappanee, Ind.

She is survived by her children, 62 grandchildren, 142 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Also three brothers and three sisters, David Perry, Granton, Wis., Joe, Hazelton, Iowa, John, Clearbrook, Minn.; brother-in-law Dan Stutzman, Milton, Iowa, Katie (Daniel Borntrager), Sarasota, Fla., Elizabeth (Levi Miller), Mossley, Ontario, Canada, and Martha (Ora Miller), Fairplay, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Anna; and brother-in-law, Daniel.

Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church at Cynthiana, where services are held today at 10 a.m.

The body will be brought to Indiana and visitation will be held at Woodlawn Church, Goshen, Ind., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow at the South Haven Church Cemetery.

Krissie K. Boss, 61, of Goshen, died of natural causes at her home Thursday evening, April 3, 2014.

She was born April 3, 1953 in Columbiana, Ohio to Albert and Carol (Schloneger) Blosser.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Blosser of Columbiana, Ohio; two children, Adam Boss of Goshen and Kaitlin (Daniel) Buzalski of Middlebury; four siblings, Lynn (John) Mays of Union, Kentucky, Rick (Mary Kay) Blosser, Joanne (Craig) Mercer and Terri (Tom) Wetherald all of Columbiana, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Paul Boss of Goshen and Elvira (Kenny) Burke of Mishawaka.

She was preceded in death by her father.

An area resident since the 1970's, Krissie was an active member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Elkhart. She enjoyed cross stitching, gardening and reading.

She worked for Mennonite Mission Network as a program human resource assistant. She had also worked as a paraprofessional for Concord Community Schools.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 23786 Sunnyside Ave., Elkhart.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Pastors Terry Zehr and Melissa Fisher Fast will officiate.

Bowman, Clayton L., 82, died August 7, 2014 at KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. His parents are John and Annie (Lichty) Bowman. Clayton was the beloved husband of Delila (Bauman) Bowman of Elmira.

Brendle, Ethel M., 93, of 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Landis Homes after a brief illness. Born in Caernarvon Twp., she was the daughter of the late Israel W. and Leah S. (Martin) Brendle.

Ethel graduated from New Holland High School and from Millersville University with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught at Maple Grove School for 15 years, Western School for 16 years, and Summit Valley Elementary for 6 years. She served as librarian at her churches, Goodville Mennonite Church for 17 years and later at Weaverland Mennonite Church for 24 years, and then from 1995 until 2006 at Landis Homes. She helped to initiate, and then served on the leadership team of Books Abroad for 23 years, until Dec. 2000. Ethel also volunteered in Re-Uzit shops in the area, the Mennonite Historical Society, and contributed, in a significant role, when her congregation sponsored a refugee family from Laos and also a family from Russia. She enjoyed reading books and traveling.

Surviving are three sisters, Louisa Lehman of Chambersburg, Ruth Kauffman of Ephrata, and Marian, married to Darrel Hostettler of Goshen, IN; and a sister-in-law, Alma Brendle of Goodville.

Preceding her in death are three sisters, Irma Hoober, M. Arlene Martin, and Pauline Weaver; and a brother, Melvin M. Brendle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA, 17543 with the Reverend C. Brenneman, Iva Idella Schlabaugh, age 94 died on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, IA. She was born January 28, 1919 near Kalona, Iowa, to Mahlon and Kate (Miller) Schlabaugh. On December 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to Dale Brenneman in Kalona. She was a charter member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.

Idella is survived by three daughters - Carolyn Brenneman; Elaine Brenneman; Joyce (Lloyd) Bender; a son Richard (Chris) Brenneman all of Kalona; a daughter-in-law Lucinda (George) Hoskins of Wellman; nine grandchildren - Rodney Bender, Heather Bender, Heidi (Andrew) Willems, Elizabeth (Stephen) Fay, Cody (Kelcey) Brenneman, Amanda (Troy) West, Nicholas (Jocelyn) Brenneman, Tyler Brenneman, Patrick Brenneman; six great grandchildren - Makenzie Fay, Aubrey Fay, Chloe Fay, Simon Willems, Sawyer Brenneman, Eden Willems; two sisters - Gladys Schlabaugh, Barbara Schlabach; and two brothers - Omar Schlabaugh and Emil Schlabaugh all of Kalona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, a son Gordon, and two brothers - Ralph and Delmar.

Brenneman, M. Eleonora Lehman Martin, 82, of Lancaster, redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, left this life to be with her Savior on Thursday, June 5, 2014. She was born in Franklin County on December 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Howard F. and Mary Martin Lehman.

Following her marriage to Clarence S. Martin on December 8, 1951, she moved to Lancaster County. Clarence died on May 22, 2010 and on April 17, 2011, she married John K. Brenneman. For many years Eleonora was a dedicated health care provider working at Maple Farms and later at Brethren Village and in private homes. She blessed many individuals with her loving care. Eleonora loved the Lord Jesus and for many years was a dedicated member of the Miners Village Mennonite Church and in recent years held membership in the Strickler?s Mennonite Church, Middletown. The family wishes to thank God for His unfailing grace and the help he sent through Hospice, Life Mennonite Fellowship Congregation and the many volunteers and caregivers.

Brindle, Janet Lesher, age 87, formerly of Wayne Road, Chambersburg, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Rodger's Personal Care Home on Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

She was born April 21, 1927 in Chambersburg, PA to C. Reiff and Eunice (Sheffler) Lesher. She was the widow of the late Harold "Bud" Brindle who died in 2004.

Janet was retired from the former A&P Store in Chambersburg. She was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church. She was a 1945 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

Janet is survived by her four daughters: Rita (wife of John) Duke of Chambersburg, Erma (wife of Gary) Lesher of Chambersburg, Eunice (wife of Jack) Stewart of Chambersburg and Marcia (wife of Don) Cotabish of Chambersburg. She has eleven grandchildren: Rita's children, Elizabeth, Michelle, Nick, and Monica, Erma's children, Janet, Jackie, and Maria, Eunice's children, Shane, Chris, and Melissa, and Marcia's daughter, Lori. She has sixteen great-grandchildren. Janet is survived by two brothers: Glenn Lesher in Fredericksburg, VA and Alan Lesher in Huntsville, Alabama.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Cotabish, and three brothers, Charles, Ralph and Carl Lesher.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. with Rev. Glenn Gross officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

GOSHEN - Alma Brubacher, 96, of Goshen, died at 4:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen.

She was born June 20, 1918, in Brutus, Mich., to the late Harvey and Susannah (Eby) Brubacher.

Surviving are her sisters, Mary Brubacher, Martha (George) Palmateer and Grace (Elmer) Eberly, all of Petoskey, Mich.; and brothers Harvey (Linda) Brubacher of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Emmanuel Brubacher of Harbor Springs, Mich.

Preceding her in death were three sisters and one brother.

Alma, a registered nurse, worked in nursing all her life. She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Goshen.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in the Meetinghouse at Greencroft Healthcare, 1904 S. 15th St., Goshen, with a service following at 11 a.m. Pastor Ron Diener and Pastor Tyler Hartford will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Mennonite Gospel Mission to Haiti or Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

Brubacher, Donald J., 87, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died February 2, 2014 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS. He was born August 8, 1927 at Moundridge, McPherson Co., KS to August and Clara (Hirschler) Brubacher. On February 13, 1949 at Moundridge, KS he was married to Margaret M. Wedel, who survives.

Surviving are children, Cindy (Lowell) Roth; Don (Janette) Brubacher; and Dale (Deb) Brubacher; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and siblings, Naomi Krehbiel; Kathryn Stucky; Jack Brubacher; and Yvonne (Allen) Dalke.

Brubacher, Erma, 31, of Emira, Ont, died July 16, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the daughter of Menno and Sarah (Martin) Brubacher. Sister of Annie Brubacher, Lovina and Noah Martin, Tobias and Erla Brubacher all of Elmira, Ont. Nelson and Vera Brubacher of Elora, Ont. Also survived by four nephews and two nieces.

Predeceased by her maternal grandparents Nelson and Lucinda (Weber) Martin and paternal grandparents Sidney and Lovina (Brubacher) Brubacher.

Visitation took place at her home on Thursday, July 17, from 3-6 p.m. and will take place on Friday, July 18, from 12-6 p.m.

Brubacher, Lydia M. Shirk, 97, of 580 Lambert Rd., Narvon, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse K. Brubacher, in 1996.

Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin W. and Annie (Martin) Shirk.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving are nine children: Ivan married to Elva Brubacher, Narvon; Jesse married to Anna Brubacher, Denver; Annie Brubacher, Narvon; Mabel married to Isaac Martin, Shippensburg; Reuben married to Mabel Brubacher, Narvon; Ben married to Joanne Brubacher, Mohnton; Eva married to Henry Stauffer, New Holland; Naomi married to Irvin Brubaker, Narvon; Vera marred to Aaron Martin, Cerulean, KY; 41 grandchildren; 158 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Shirk, Narvon and a brother, Menno Shirk, East Earl.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Mary Brubacher and Bertha Brubacher and a grandson, Marvin N. Brubacher, five brothers and a sister.

Brubaker, Earl W., 65, of East Earl, went home unexpectedly to be with his Holy Savior and his parents on Friday, January 17, 2014 in Wilmington, DE.

Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late David S. and Anna (Weaver) Brubaker. He was married 22 years on Oct. 27 to Joanne M. (Maurer) Brubaker.

He has worked for the past 26 years for Meridian Products in New Holland as a sanding machine operator. Previously he worked for Reinforced Earth Co., Terre Hill Concrete, and Kurtz Precast, but his true love was barbering which he did for over 40 years. He was also the former owner of the Lickity Split ice cream truck.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Terre Hill. He was also an avid golfer at Hawk Valley and past President of the former Blue Ball Lions Club. He enjoyed antiquing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Darren R. Brubaker of Adamstown, Derrick R. Brubaker of Narvon, and Danielle R., married to Brian Taylor of Doylestown; a step daughter, Susan M. Groff of East Earl; a step son, Dwayne E. Groff of New Holland; eight grandchildren, Amanda M. Tyson, Cody R., Tyler A., Emily E., Claire M., Carly E. and Cole A. Brubaker, and Winter A. Taylor; two sisters, Ella Mae Eby of Ephrata, and Nancy W. Brubaker of Terre Hill; and a brother, Luke W. Brubaker of East Earl.

Preceding him in death is a sister, Susan Sensenig.

Brubaker, J. Herbert, 94, of Woodcrest Villa, Lancaster, PA, entered into Eternity with the Lord on March 20, 2014. Born in Mount Joy, PA on December 9, 1919, the son of the late Jonas Bear and Fanny Hostetter Brubaker, he was a lifetime farmer on the farm of his birth.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Garber Brubaker.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Alice Ruby Work Brubaker. Herbert had two daughters, Rachael B., married to H. Glenn Esbenshade of Lititz and Cathy L. married to Jeffrey S. Keener of Mount Joy. Two stepdaughters, Wilmajene Work, married to Kenneth Leister of Lancaster and Joyce Work, married to Brian Lady of Abilene, Kansas. Herbert additionally had six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.

Herbert graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, VA. He was a lifetime member of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, where he served as a Trustee and Sunday school teacher. He served on the Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery Committee, was a member of the North East Gideon's International and the Mount Joy Historical Society. He enjoyed music, especially the old gospel hymns, and enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Canada; Middle East, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

WOMELSDORF - Susie Horst Brubaker, 94, who resided for the last nine months at the Richland Christian Home, Richland, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. She was the wife of the late George B. Brubaker who died September 5, 2008. She was born on December 13, 1919, in Goodville, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Rufus and Lizzie Burkholder Horst. She was a member of the Martins Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference, Womelsdorf.

Brunk, Marjorie Frances Secrest, 95, of Sterling, IL died March 24, 2014 at Aurora, CO. She was born December 21, 1918 at Avoka, MN to Verne and Clara Secrest. On April 6, 1941 she was married to Boyd Austin Brunk, who was born May 15, 1919 and died February 4, 1997.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Metz, a son, Timothy Brunk, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

A son, Philip Brunk preceded her in death.

Brunk, Milton Joseph, 94, of Goshen, died Friday, August 15, 2014.

He was born April 21, 1920 in Denbigh, Virginia to Joseph E. and Alice (Yoder) Brunk.

Milt attended Goshen High School for three years and then graduated from Redondo Beach (CA) High School in 1938. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the Goshen College in 1942

Milt was an engineer at Penn Electric, Barler's and Stoutco before purchasing Northland Engineering. He received patents for his designs relating to the RV industry. He served as a democrat councilman on the Goshen City Council from 1956 to 1960.

Milt never knew a stranger, read hundreds of mystery books, regaled friends with slightly irreverent stories, faithfully wrote circle letters to his siblings and hunted for elk and deer with friends in Montana for over 35 years. He loved his time spent with family and friends in the Florida Keys. He had an insatiable curiosity and shared his knowledge of geology, art, nature and science with his daughters.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen; their three daughters, Mary Alice (Hale) Newman (Hale), Linda Coddington (David, deceased) and Jeanne Brunk; granddaughter Julie Lee and great-grandson Robert; siblings Adella Kanagy and Mabel Brunk.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ivan.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Greencroft Nursing Center for all the love, respect, and enriching friendships shared with our father. The family has celebrated Milt's life as he requested.

Buller, Eldo Benjamin, 86, of Tremont, IL died April 9, 2014. He was born July 14, 1927 at Waka, TX to David E. and Sarah (Kroeker) Buller. On November 18, 1954 he was married to Nelda May Litwiller , who survives.

Surviving are children, Sarah (Curt Fenton), Joel (Angela Peck), and Mary (Dick Gilliom), five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and siblings: Ida (Daniel Rempel); Evelyn (Vernard Unruh); Emily (Joe Koehn); Clarine (Art Johnson); Vernon (Bertha Friesen, later Doris Nachtigall); Delores Lucille; Albua Mae (Jim Logan; Frances (Melvin Schultz; Ralph (Lorraine Lohrenz); Elvina Helen; Josie (Daniel Slagell); and Ruby (Isaac Regier, Jr).

At the age of 18 during WWII, Eldo served with Civilian Public Service in Rocky Ford, CO and Belton Montana in Glacier National Park, clearing fire trails & in Gulfport Mississippi. During the Korean War, he continued in 1-W service, working at Mercy Hospital in Denver, CO. After his marriage to Nelda, they moved to Tremont, IL where Eldo farmed on the Litwiller family farms until retirement. Upon retirement, Eldo became actively interested in woodworking.

Memorial services were held April 19, 2014 at Hopedale Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL with burial in Mennonite Cemetery, Hopedale, IL.

Buller, Esther Friesen
March 22, 1923 - August 5, 2014

HESSTON - Esther (Friesen) Buller, 91, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.

She was born March 22, 1923, to Henry and Minnie (Ediger) Friesen in Inman. She was united in marriage to Erby Buller on Aug. 16, 1948, in Walton.

Esther was a graduate of Inman High School. She was a dedicated employee to Woolworths for 37 years and homemaker raising her two sons, Stanley and Rodney. In 1952 Esther contracted Polio. After many months of treatment, and much to the surprise of many Polio doctors, she relearned to walk and carry on a very full and rich life.

Esther was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries. As a dedicated Christian she spent many early years teaching Sunday School and Bible studies. She enjoyed her church and close friendships with so many people.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Erby of Hesston; sons, Stanley and Rodney Buller, both of Hesston; grandson, Brian Buller of Penrose, Colorado; great-granddaughter, Taylor Farren of Awossa, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Kingdom Life Ministries from 6 until 7:30 p.m.

Burkhart, James H., 88, of New Holland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 13, 2014 after a brief illness.

Born in Bowmansville, he was the son of Harry and Suie (Hurst) Burkhart. He was the loving husband of the late Loretta E. (Fox) Burkhart for 61 years. She died June 23, 2009. He later married Elsie (Musser) Bowman Burkhart, Dec. 12, 2009.

James retired in 2006 after 38 years from the former Sperry New Holland and later worked 20 years at Shady Maple Farm Market in East Earl.

He was a lifelong member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church where he served as song leader for many years. He was a member of the Gospel Light singers and also sang with men's choruses and playing with Bluegrass Gospel bands. He was also a member of the Christian Camplighters camping group.

Among his interests were singing, guitar playing, gospel music, performing for churches, retirement homes and fire halls throughout the area, camping, gardening, and playing games with his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Larry E., married to Carol (Brubaker) Burkhart of Quarryville, Joyce E. Nolt Gish, married to John Gish of Mt. Joy, Robert L., married to Brenda (High) Burkhart of Lititz, Kenneth J., married to Pat (Glick) Burkhart of Ephrata, Diane K., married to Ervin Miller of Sarasota, FL, and Doris J., married to Ray Horst of New Holland; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two stepchildren, Sharon, married to Gary Larsen of Orlando, FL, and Kenneth D., married to Joanne (Donato) Bowman of Orlando, FL; three step grandchildren; one brother, Wilmer, married to Anna (Snader) Burkhart of Manheim; and a sister-in-law, Ruth (Good) Burkhart of Ephrata.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, John and Warren, and two sisters, Eleanor Good, and Irene Fulmer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with the Reverend Peter Sensenig and the Reverend Jonathan Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the Church. Burkholder Anna Mary, 95, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia died April 29, 2014 at the same place. She was born April 7, 1919 in Rockingham County, Virginia to Alpheus F. and Mary S. (Berry) Burkholder.

Surviving is a sister, Clara Driver.

Four brothers, Aaron Burkholder, Timothy Burkholder, Andrew Burkholder, and Melvin Burkholder, and a sister, Eva Brubaker preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held May 4, 2014 at Springdale Mennonite Church, Waynesboro, Virginia with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Burkholder, Barry L., 65, of Womelsdorf, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Heart of Lancaster Hospital. He was the husband of Alma H. Hurst Burkholder. They had celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this past August.

Born in Lancaster on October 20, 1948, he was the son of the late Eli M and Helen L. Reich Burkholder. He was a member of the Little Mt. Mennonite Church. Barry was a retired dairy farmer and enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Sharon wife of Phil Ehst of Delphi, IN, JoAnne wife of Mast Stoltzfus of Millerstown, Lamar Burkholder and his wife Marilyn of Womelsdorf, Jason Burkholder and his wife Donna of Laurel, DE, Jonathan Burkholder and his wife Christa of Tyler Hill, Justin Burkholder and his wife Velma of Richland and Rosina wife of Conrad Sweigart of Saxton; brothers, Donald Burkholder and his wife Miriam of Bernville and Bernell Burkholder and his wife Lillian of Bethel; sisters, Ann Louise wife of Dale Eberly of Bernville and Susan wife of Chris Beachy of Bernville; 29 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Little Mt. Mennonite Church, 391 Musselman Rd., Fredericksburg. Viewing will be on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Burkholder, Jane Zimmerman, 82, of Leola, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Fairmount Homes.

Born in Brecknock Township, she was the daughter of the late William and Sally (Hurting) Zimmerman and the wife of Abram Burkholder.

Jane was a member of the Hahnstown United Zion Church. She worked in the kitchen at the former Akron Restaurant. She enjoyed horseback riding and going to the mountains.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 4 children, Barry R., husband of Dolores (Nolt) Burkholder of Ephrata, Brenda J., wife of Paul Wise of Reinholds, Bruce L. and Burnell L. Burkholder, both at home; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Warren, husband of Gladys (Holzinger) Zimmerman of Denver; 3 sisters, Irene, wife of Clarence Stoner of Ephrata, Mabel, wife of Irvin Sensenig of Denver and Violet Good of Denver.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wheat Ridge Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Monday, May 12, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Ephrata United Zion Church, 408 E. Fulton St., Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m., with Rev. John Fry and Rev. John Leisey officiating. Interment will take place in the Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery.

Burkholder, Nelson J., age 68 of North Canton passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. Nelson was born on Dec. 23, 1945 in Freemont, Michigan to Lowell H. and Helen (Yoder) Burkholder. Nelson married Ginnie Horst on Oct. 22, 1966 and graduated in 1972 from the University of Illinois with a BA in Elementary Education. He taught 5th and 6th grade at East Sparta Elementary School for 21 years before retiring due to Lewy Body Dementia.

Nelson was an active member of First Mennonite Church in Canton.

Nelson is survived by his wife Ginnie (Horst); son, Eric Burkholder of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Amy Regier, son-in-law, Joe Regier, two grandchildren, Richard Regier and Cora June Regier all of Newton, Kan.; eight siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N. in Canton. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Hooley officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to establish a memorial of Nelson at Beech Creek Nature Preserve.

Burkholder, Paul Herbert, 87, of Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, died March 29, 2014 at the same place.

He was born July 25, 1926 at Markham, York Co., Ontario to Rev. Lewis Joseph and Emma (Meyer) Burkholder. Lewis was born June 15, 1875 and died September 28.1949. Emma was born June 9, 1884 and died April 14, 1944.

On September 7, 1950 at Markham, Ontario he was married to Eva Alvina Reesor, who was born July 31, 1923 and died August 16, 2008.

Surviving are children, Dave (Trudy) Burkholder; Robert (Jill) Burkholder; Mary (Leonard) Friesen; Nancy Burkholder; Laura (Roger) Trauzzi; and Barbara (Steffen) Pauls; twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A sister, Luella May (Burkholder) Reesor preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held April 2, 2014 at Rouge Valley Mennonite Church, Markham Ontario with burial in Cedar Grove Mernnonite Cemetery, Markham, York Co., Ontario.

Byler, Clara Yoder, 85, of Hartville, Stark Co., Ohio died August 7, 2014 at Middlefield, Geauga Co., Ohio. She was born July 9, 1929 at Hartville to John J. and Emma (Miller) Yoder. On August 29, 1987 at Hartville, OH she was married to Henry Byler, who was born April 1, 1927 and survives. She was married to Henry for 26 years.

Surviving are step-children, David (Verla) Byler of Columbia, SC; James (Mary) Byler of Sarasota, FL; Ellen (Frank) Wilson of Middlefield, OH; and William (Carol) Byler of Savannah, GA; nine step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and six siblings: Lizzie Ann Yoder, Esther (John) Hershberger, Leroy J. (Martha) Yoder and Leona (Norman) Slabaugh, all of Hartville, OH, Wayne J. (Linda) Yoder of Fresno, OH, and Joseph H. (Janice) Yoder of Middlebury, IN, 3 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Yoder of Orrville, OH, Mary Ellen Yoder of Hartville, OH, and Mary Ellen Yoder of Newport Richey, FL.

Five brothers and two step-grandchildren preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held August 11, 2014 at Maple View Mennonite Church, Burton, Geauga Co., Ohio with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

SHIPSHEWANA - Elizabeth Byler, 86, of Shipshewana, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at home.

She was born April 7, 1927, in Nappanee to the late John G. and Lovina (Burkholder) Byler.

Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Anna Byler of Nappanee and Ella Byler of LaGrange, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Miller and Lydia Mae Miller, and three brothers, Joe, Lester and Elmer Byler.

She was a member of Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, and all day Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Mahlon Lambright's home, 2885 N. 550 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Phillip Schlabach's home, 5190 W. 300 N., Shipshewana.

Services will be conducted by Bishop Jacob Jones and home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Byler, Ella W. Miller

LAGRANGE - Ella W. Byler, 94, of LaGrange, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 24, 1920, in LaGrange County to William S. and Edna Mae (Miller) Miller.

On April 24, 1941, in LaGrange County, she married Lester J. Byler. He died Feb. 1, 2009.

Surviving are six daughters, Edna Mae Miller of LaGrange, Arlene Bontrager of Bonduel, Wis., Leanna Yoder and Luella Miller, both of LaGrange, Ruth Miller of Ligonier, and Velma Yoder of Topeka; two sons, Mervin L. Byler of Wolcottville and Vernon L. Byler of LaGrange; brother Ervin Miller of LaGrange; two sisters, Ida Mae Lehman of LaGrange and Emma Bontrager of Shipshewana; and sister-in-law Mary Miller of LaGrange.

Visitation will be all day Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the family's residence, 0090 W. 300 S. LaGrange. A funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Raymond Miller's residence, 0115 W. 300 S. LaGrange. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
